My Testimony
When I was young, my parents constantly fought and never got along. Eventually, they got a divorce and my mom got custody of me and my two sisters, my dad got visitation everyh other weekend and some holidays. Then, my dad met my stepmom and she encouraged him to fight for custody of us. They were not married yet. So he did and he won custody of us. My mom stopped taking her meds for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. She only had supervised visits with us. Eventually, she stopped visiting us altogether. I don't remember a lot about my childhood but I know when we lived with our mom, we were constantly moving. At one point, she took us to a safehouse because she thought my dad was after her when he really wasn't. Shortly after they met, my dad and stepmom got married. I was in third or fourth grade. I consider my stepmom to be my mom and nothing less. She has done so much for me and my sisters. She had my brother from a previous marriage and then, together, my dad and her had my baby sister who is 11 now. We haven't heard from our biological mom in I don't know how long. The last I knew she was in a pysch hospital in Pennsylvania, now I have no idea where she is or what she is doing with her life. But I do know I never want my children to go through the things my sisters and I went through. No one should have to go through that.
